Shogun Inspired Geneaology Quest
It's funny..I instinctively had this logo designed several years ago. It was an artistic expression of the experience I've been having of coming home, taking care of my parents, and the natural understanding of one's heritage that evolves from that. I don't think I fully appreciated at the time where these instincts were rooted. But recently, a number of revelations have come to light. These were oddly enough inspired by the release of the series Shōgun. I knew a number of random facts about my ancestry prior. However, I think because of the language and cultural barriers, it wasn't until the series came out that I was able to connect the dots of my own heritage. It's almost as if the show gave me a road map that I was able to integrate with these random facts to see my place in the larger fabric of Japanese history. It's been a pretty moving experience for me. I posted my initial reaction here..
Since then, a number of really multidimensional coincidences have presented themselves. It's hard to put into words. But in the context of events happening in my life, it often feels like my ancestors are speaking directly to me. It's wild. In a good way! Here is an example of one of those experiences...
Needless to say, this constellation of events has fully captured my attention. It's a journey which has only just begun, and I think one which can't be encapsulated in a single post. It sounds really bizarre, but at times it feels like I am meant to continue the family legacy in the here and now. Part of this journey is understanding my role in that larger story. It's an epic saga that continues through every generation and one which is becoming exceedingly critical in this moment of global calamity. It's time for me to step up to my own destiny! It's a little hard to believe at times, but this circumstance kinda reminds me of a movie I saw called Blade of the 47 Ronin. One of the main protagonists didn't even know she was one of the descendants of the 47 Ronin (one of the most famous samurai stories and a movie itself). Through the course of the movie, she unwittingly finds herself in the middle of an epic samurai battle. I won't spoil the movie for you. But essentially, it's a story of destiny having a way of catching up to someone despite them being wholly unaware. But I digress. It's yet another example of being spoken to through a classic samurai story. After finding out that I'm a descendent of the original samurai. This keeps happening. More on this later. It's a lot! To be continued..
(I will continue this discovery process in the SAWADA CLAN thread).
